The newly elected officers of the 2026 PMPC Star Awards, Inc. recently took their oath of office in a simple yet meaningful induction ceremony held at Japer’s Resto in Scout Borromeo, Quezon City. The oath was administered by Vice Mayor Marcos Mamay of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte, who served as the inducting officer.
Elected as president was Fernan de Guzman, who has already served the organization for three terms. Rodel Fernando was elected vice president.
Also inducted were the following officers: Eric Borromeo, secretary; Mildred Bacud, assistant secretary; Boy Romero, treasurer; Jimi Escala, assistant treasurer; Joey Austria, auditor; Evelyn Diao, PRO–English; and Glen Sibonga, PRO–Pilipino.
Members of the Board of Directors who likewise took their oath were John Fontanilla, Leony Garcia, Melba Llanera, Mell Navarro, Rommel Placente, and Francis Simeon.
Vice Mayor Mamay, who is also Vice President for Operations of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines, expressed his gratitude and delight at being chosen as the inducting officer of the newly elected PMPC officers.
In his message, Mamay said it was a great honor to administer the oath and thanked the organization and its new president.
“Malaking karangalan po na maimbita ng PMPC na mag-oath sa newly elected officers. Tiyak na magiging maayos ang pamamalakad para sa kabutihan ng lahat,” he said.
He also acknowledged the organization’s continued support for his film projects.
We need to keep helping each other so Filipino creativity can move forward.”
Mamay further expressed his hope for continuous and successful leadership within the organization.
“Sana tuloy-tuloy na ito. Sana maganda ang maging pamamalakad para sa kabutihan ng buong PMPC, ng ating media friends and press, at sana magtagumpay ang lahat ng ating mga adhikain.”
He also signified his willingness to support PMPC, particularly its annual awards events—the Star Awards for Movies, Television, and Music.
Vice Mayor Mamay was chosen as this year’s inducting officer due to his credibility, strong public image as a government official, and notable contributions to the entertainment industry as a film producer.
After serving three terms as mayor of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte, Mamay now holds office as vice mayor of the same municipality. He is also the National Vice President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines and serves as adviser of the Actors Guild of the Philippines.
His first venture into film production proved successful as his inspirational biopic, MAMAY: A Journey to Greatness, garnered multiple awards at the 83rd FAMAS Awards, including Best Supporting Actor (Jeric Raval), Best Production Design, Best Musical Score, Best Original Song, and Best Cinematography. The film’s theme song, “Hamon,” also won Indie Movie Theme Song of the Year at the 41st PMPC Star Awards for Movies, alongside his recognition as Outstanding Producer and Movie Advocate of the Year.
Mamay expressed his hope for the organization’s continued growth, unity, and steadfast love, respect, and support among PMPC members and officers.
PMPC Star Awards, Inc. is recognized as the longest-running organization of showbiz media practitioners in the country, composed of entertainment editors, columnists, bloggers, and TV and radio hosts. It was founded in the 1960s.
Its major events—the Star Awards for Movies, Television, and Music—remain among the most highly anticipated celebrations in the Philippine entertainment industry each year.
