QUEZON CITY, Philippines — In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide urgent assistance, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the Quezon City local government jointly delivered immediate aid to 2,000 families displaced by a fire that struck a residential area in Barangay Pinyahan last Friday night.
A total of 2,000 “Charitimba” buckets containing food and other essential supplies, along with modular tents, were distributed at the Risen Garden in Quezon City Hall. PCSO General Manager Melquiades A. Robles, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, and MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III (collated photos below) led the distribution.

The fire, which reached Task Force Bravo status, affected homes along NIA Road, leaving many residents temporarily without shelter and basic necessities.
“Our teams worked closely with the local government to ensure that immediate assistance reached the affected families,” said PCSO GM Robles.
MMDA provided the modular evacuation tents to serve as temporary shelters for families displaced by the fire.
“The MMDA remains ready to assist local governments during emergencies. Through our coordination with Quezon City and PCSO, we hope to provide temporary shelter and support for families while other relief efforts continue,” said MMDA GM Torre.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte also expressed gratitude to President Marcos, PCSO GM Robles, and MMDA GM Torre for their swift response. She noted that the relief efforts are a significant help in supporting the victims’ recovery.
The distributed goods were delivered to the 1,907 families evacuated to Flora Ylagan High School, Pinyahan Covered Court, San Isidro Labrador Parish, NIA Covered Court, Pinyahan Elementary School, NHA Balik-Probinsya Covered Court, and NAPOCOR.
