MANILA — Tropical Storm BASYANG (PENHA) remains active east of Mindanao, with its center estimated at 460 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur at 3:00 a.m. today. The storm carries 65 kph sustained winds and gusts of up to 80 kph, moving west-southwest at 15 kph.
The weather bureau warned of stormy conditions in Caraga and Davao Oriental, where residents may face flash floods and landslides due to continued moderate to heavy rainfall. Strong to gale-force winds could cause minor to moderate damage.
Other areas including Northern Mindanao, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, and the rest of the Davao Region are likely to experience rains accompanied by gusty winds, with a minimal to minor threat to communities.
The Northeast Monsoon will bring cloudy to partly cloudy skies with light rains over Metro Manila and Luzon, while Batanes is expected to see only light rainfall with no major effects.
Mariners are advised to exercise caution as moderate to rough sea conditions prevail over the Visayas, Mindanao, and eastern Luzon, with waves ranging from 1.2 to 4.0 meters.
