MANILA — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office has turned over five state-of-the-art portable X-ray units powered by artificial intelligence to the Philippine Navy to improve medical response during sea missions and emergencies.
The lightweight equipment, designed for field and shipboard use, allows medical personnel to conduct on-site imaging and receive instant diagnostic support. Because the machines are battery-operated, they can function even in areas without reliable electricity, making them suitable for maritime deployments and disaster operations.
PCSO officials emphasized that the initiative reflects the agency’s commitment to channeling public gaming revenues into programs that directly benefit frontline government services, particularly those operating in high-risk and remote environments.
Navy leadership welcomed the donation, noting that the availability of mobile diagnostic tools will help reduce delays in treatment, minimize the need for emergency evacuations, and enhance the military’s ability to manage both combat-related injuries and medical conditions while at sea.
The newly delivered units are expected to be deployed across naval assets to support operational readiness and humanitarian missions./iamigo
