MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan — The Bulacan Police Provincial Office (BPPO) on Tuesday led the ceremonial destruction of confiscated open pipe and modified mufflers as part of intensified efforts to curb noise pollution and enforce traffic and environmental laws.
The activity was held at Camp General Alejo S. Santos in Malolos City and was spearheaded by Provincial Director Police Colonel Angel L. Garcillano, with Governor Daniel R. Fernando, the commander of the Provincial Mobile Force Company, and chiefs of police from various cities and municipalities in the province in attendance.
A total of 1,654 improvised and illegal mufflers were destroyed, underscoring the strong commitment of law enforcement agencies and local government units to promote public safety, protect the environment, and reduce excessive noise on public roads.
During the ceremony, Certificates of Commendation were awarded to several police officials in recognition of their outstanding efforts in enforcing anti-noise regulations and clean air initiatives. Honorees included PLtCol Ismael C. Gauna of Norzagaray MPS, PLtCol Mark Louie M. Sigua of Santa Maria MPS, PLtCol Reyson M. Bagain of San Jose del Monte City Police Station, PLtCol Jerome Jay S. Ragonton of Plaridel MPS, and PLtCol Sean C. Logronio of Pandi MPS.
Governor Fernando emphasized that the sale and use of excessively noisy mufflers should be stopped, noting that many municipalities already have ordinances banning such devices. He added that if a province-wide ordinance is still lacking, he would direct Vice Governor Alex Castro to initiate legislation to address the issue.
“This is part of our vision for a Bagong Pilipinas—where discipline, simplicity, and respect for others define our communities,” the governor said, urging motorists to avoid using loud mufflers.
