MANILA – Parts of Mindanao will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms Thursday due to the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
Affected areas include Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Caraga, Soccsksargen, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur.
PAGASA warned that periods of moderate to heavy rainfall could cause flash floods or landslides in these locations.
Weather specialist Loriedin Galicia said most other parts of the country will continue to experience hot and humid conditions, although isolated rain showers remain possible.
The highest temperature forecast is 35°C in Zamboanga, while Tuguegarao and Davao may record highs of 34°C.
The heat index could reach 41°C in Coron, Palawan; Dumangas, Iloilo; and Borongan, Eastern Samar. Metro Manila is expected to experience heat index values between 37°C and 38°C.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions will prevail across the archipelago.
PAGASA added that no low-pressure area is currently being monitored for tropical cyclone development.
