TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) strengthened healthcare services in Bohol on Friday (March 20) by turning over 12 mechanical ventilators to five government hospitals in the province, boosting their critical care capacity and improving access to life-saving treatment.
The ventilators, distributed under PCSO’s Medical Equipment Donation Program (MEDP), were delivered to Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital in Talibon, Teodoro B. Galagar District Hospital in Jagna, Cong. Simeon G. Toribio Memorial Hospital in Carmen, Catigbian District Hospital, and Francisco Dagohoy Memorial Hospital in Inabanga.
Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital received six units, while Teodoro B. Galagar District Hospital was given three units. The remaining three hospitals received one unit each.
PCSO General Manager Mel Robles said the donation reflects the agency’s commitment to bringing government healthcare services closer to communities and improving access to quality medical care, particularly in the provinces.
“Padala po ito ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,” Robles said during the turnover ceremony. “Laging bilin niya sa amin that government should go to the people.”
Robles stressed that healthcare assistance should be delivered fairly and without political considerations.
“If the President says we have to love the Filipinos, we have to make sure na hindi mapupulitika ang healthcare,” he said. “We give the equipment for medical mobility, regardless kung bumoto sa atin o hindi.”
He also highlighted the importance of improving healthcare access in far-flung communities, noting that the national government continues to enhance patient transport and emergency response systems.
Bohol Governor Aris Aumentado welcomed the donation, saying the ventilators would help strengthen hospital readiness, especially in responding to emergencies and potential public health threats.
“This medical equipment will greatly help ensure that our people have access to quality healthcare services wherever they may be in Bohol,” Aumentado said.
He added that the equipment would improve the province’s preparedness for major health emergencies, drawing lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aside from the ventilators, PCSO also turned over a check worth ₱277,940.92 representing Bohol’s lotto shares for July to December 2025.
