MANILA — During an ambush interview at the Manila City Hall Press Club (MCHPC) on Monday, January 21, 2025, Congressman Rolan Valeriano of Manila’s 2nd District announced that he has filed a cyber libel complaint against Cavite Representative Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga with the Office of the City Prosecutor in Manila.
Valeriano alleged that Barzaga’s Facebook post contained malicious statements accusing members of the National Unity Party (NUP) of accepting bribes from businessman Enrique Razon in exchange for supporting Leyte Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez’s bid for the speakership.
This is the third cyber libel complaint filed against Barzaga, who is currently suspended from Congress following earlier cases lodged by Razon and House Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno.
The latest complaint underscores the growing controversy over Barzaga’s social media remarks and reignites debate on the boundaries of free speech in the digital age.
