MANILA, Philippines — Rising tennis sensation Alex Eala continued her remarkable run at the ASB Classic after securing a semifinal berth with a dominant quarterfinal win in Auckland, New Zealand.
Eala dismantled Poland’s Magda Linette, 6-3, 6-2, showcasing her growing confidence and control on the court.
After a competitive opening set, Eala shifted gears in the second, building a commanding 4-0 lead. Linette briefly pushed back by taking two games, but the Filipina quickly shut the door, breaking serve and closing out the match in emphatic fashion.
The Nadal Academy-trained athlete displayed improved shot selection and composure, key factors in overcoming a seasoned opponent.
“It feels amazing to win here,” Eala shared post-match. “I always try to give my best and be brave when opportunities come. Playing against Magda has been challenging in the past, so this win means a lot to me and shows how much I’ve improved.”
